As I understand it The raincliffe enterprise group obtained a very considerable grant to carry out consultations with the people of Scarborough as to the future of Raincliffe Woods . Apparently a considerable proportion of this grant has been used to fund the SWE to enable the REG to carry out their consultation . I do not consider the payment of traders a legitimate use of this grant money or that a questionnaire handed out to those in attendance of the secret wood event to be anything near appropriate consultations, given that some that are interested in the use and development of the woods will not be in attendance because they disagree strongly with events like the SWE. I Thought that SBC was pleading poverty heck trying to get funding these days is like trying to pull hens teeth, and yet money is to be found for hazel head car park to be opened up to allow parking for this weekend then replaced (how much is this costing )then there is the widening of the rides in Raincliffe Woods and the provision of council operatives and plant (again how much) is it costing Scarborough council tax payers to promote the Scarborough enterprise groups bid .SBC are supposed to be unbiased this is the behaviour of an organisation that is anything but , I dont know why SBC is supporting one bid over the other but as a group Scarborough Woods Action Group will support any challenge to this bias .
I have also been told that banners from previous SWE are been used ,these banners have if memory serves me right have the SBC logo on them ,this logo I am told is also appearing on advertising for the event . How can SBC claim to be impartial in its decisions when they are seen to back one of the applicants for asset transfer in such a favourable way.
