This Sat 29 nov . We will be making two more litter bins one for the gate the other for the picnic area carrying on with thinning the trees in the small plantation and tidying up the lop & top. We will also be planting 1000 snakes head fritillary bulbs in one of the wet flushes so a busy day a head ,I hope the rain hold off.
One of Yorkshires leading Botanists and local History expert Chris Wilson will be giving a walk and talk in Raincliffe Meadow this Sunday 23 2.00 pm. If you like to listen to interesting people talking then this is for you . He will tell you what plant your stud on at the same time give you the history of the ground its planted in .So this Sunday in the Meadow 10.30 bring your boots
What a lovely few days , on the far left the members of mencap helping to make bird boxes those on the right are the convols planting 1000 blue bell bulbs just behind the mere. earlier on in the day the volunteers had been to the Orchid Terrace helping to cut back the gorse bushes, a litter pick and marking out research areas for Sheffield Uni.
What a stunning day in the meadow ,in the morning the members completed the tree survey our first , we now know how many trees we have ,what kind ,size, health and the amount of useful wood . The afternoon was spent clearing the Lop & Top and making habitats. I must not forget the kids making thumb sticks for passers through these will be on sale for £2 So a very successful day
