This Wednesday 1 of July Scarborough ConVols are working in Raincliffe Woods Taking bracken off a 4000 year old burial mound and creating a new path to go round it, we will also be digging out drainage cuts to allow rain water to escape the paths thus keeping them dry. Bring lunch and a drink for your self and please wear appropriate clothing Pick up for those without transport is as usual at the Railway Station at 9.30 ,look out for a white Scarborough Borough Council Land Rover. New members are always welcome so if you like fresh air, making new friends and doing something for the community come along and join us.
The Saturday group will as usual be meeting on Raincliffe Meadow at the west gate at 10.30. The volunteers will be cutting grass ,controlling the Black thorn, ,cutting back unwanted regrowth and raking the grass to remove debris moving timber, rebuilding the bird hide and revetting the West gate
. We provide all the equipment & training. All you need is a willingness to make friends, join in and some appropriate clothing. Not forgetting a drink and your lunch. We are also looking for recorders to help with wild life observation and recording. We are two different groups of volunteers ,the SCV work all over the Scarborough aria doing a variety of tasks in conjunction with SBC we also are the lease holders on around 15 acres of meadow ,we only have 99 years to sort it out . The SWAG group are at the moment concentrating on Raincliffe Woods & forge Valley ,they meet on the first Sunday of the month to carry out tasks and have events in the woodland . and hope to see you there Ron Baxter Chair
